Navagraha Shanti Puja & Homa Guidance
Navagraha Shanti Puja is a traditional observance addressing the nine planetary influences in a birth chart. It is a devotional practice, undertaken where a chart reading indicates it — not a mechanical procedure that produces a guaranteed result.
What the observance addresses
The Navagraha — Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. The observance is directed towards the graha or graha indicated by the chart, rather than being a single fixed procedure applied to everyone.
When it is suggested
Where a chart reading shows a specific planetary period or placement that the tradition addresses through this observance. It follows a reading; it is not offered before one.
What is explained beforehand
What the observance involves, how long it takes, what materials are needed, what it is traditionally understood to address, and what it is not claimed to do. If you would rather not proceed, that is entirely fine and it does not change the guidance you have already received.
Arranging a date
Dates are chosen with reference to muhurtha. Observances can be arranged at any of our three centres, in Bengaluru, Hyderabad or Mumbai.
Common questions
How long does the puja take?
A Navagraha Shanti observance typically runs two to three hours. A fuller homa can take longer. You will be told the expected duration and the arrival time when the date is arranged.
What do I need to bring?
A list of materials is given when the date is fixed. Most items are commonly available and inexpensive. Where anything specific is needed, you will be told what and why, and you are free to source it wherever you prefer.
Can family members attend?
Yes. These observances are usually attended by the family. Let us know the number of people when arranging so seating can be planned.
Is a puja necessary for me?
Only if the chart indicates it, and often it does not. If you have come after being told elsewhere that a puja is urgently required, we will read the chart and tell you honestly what we find — including if we find that nothing is warranted.
